Options Trading Using a Stock Options Table
To access the Edit option for stock options, first go into the Stock Options main page. Right click on either the Stock Options column or right click on the blank area below the column. Select the Edit option. The Edit choices available vary according to whether you click the Body of the Table or the Symbol column. The changes that you make to the Stock Options will be reflected in the Cost column that appears in your charts.

When you open a new stock options trading account, you are required to first sign up by providing your first and last name as well as your e-mail address. You then choose the stock that you would like to trade and type in a list of its stock names or stock symbols. After you have completed this step, click on "OK". startup appears. In the stock options table, under the appropriate column, you can type the strike price, the expiration date, the stock symbol you want to use, the implied cost percentage or the mutual fund index.

The stock option you have selected will now appear as a stock option symbol on your charts. The price you have placed on the chart is now the actual stock option value. The expiration date is also the expiration price or the time limit for when the stock option expires, determined at the time you set it. The mutual fund index is the index of all stocks in a particular mutual fund.

When you click on a stock option in the mutual fund's index, a chart will appear. This chart is the same type you will see in your investment management account unless you have set it to show an array of stock options. Each stock symbol represents a security that you can buy or sell through a transaction in the market. The mutual fund will show the name of the fund and the symbol for each security it owns.

If you have chosen to buy an option, you will find the option buy option, the call option and the put option listed beneath the mutual fund's symbols. Under the buy option, you will find the name of the buyer and the name of the seller. The put option lets the buyer sell one stock while the call option allows the seller to buy one stock for its value. You can buy or sell the options at any time before the expiration date or after the expiration date, as long as the option is allowed to expire. There are no penalties for selling options that are not allowed to expire.

The underlying value of an option is the strike price or the amount by which the option's premium is determined. If you choose the strike price, which is the underlying value, then you are creating a right. Once you sell the option, you lose the right to sell future stock at the strike price.

There are different types of options including put options and call options. Call options allow the buyer to buy or sell stock at a specific price during the option exercise period. If the price does not reach this price before the option expires, the buyer loses the right to purchase or sell the securities at the strike price. If the price goes above the option strike price before the expiration date, the buyer has the right to purchase the securities. However, if the price goes below the option strike price, the buyer is not permitted to buy or sell.

If you are buying stock options, you need to determine the premium that you will pay for the option. You will pay this premium either as a single lump sum or in installments. The cost basis is the amount by which the total premium exceeds the market price of the securities being purchased. Also, the date of expiration needs to be taken into consideration when you are paying for the option.
