Kazakhstan Unrest Will not Be Eased by Erzhan Kazakhstanykhanov's Re-election as Deputy Chief of Staff

Kazakhstan's government faces the reality of the future after the events that have shaken the country.

Erzhan Kasykhanov's return could be an indication of the changing power dynamics.

It is worthwhile to compare the current state of affairs in Ukraine with the recent developments in the region. This includes the 2003 and 2005 color revolutions, as well as recent protests in Belarus (and specifically Kazakhstan). Kazakhstan is an ex- Soviet state situated in central Asia.
