I was only disappointed due to the fact that I had been expecting a Tarot deck. The Maiden, Mother, Crone, Youth, Father, and Sage. <p class="p__2">The imagery is distinct to this deck, which's a wonderful thing; I'm blown away by the imagination that entered into the making of the deck. It lends itself easily to a freeform, intuitive reading style. But it's not a Tarot deck. The 6 of Earth, 5 of Air, 2 of Fire, and Nine of Water.</p>

<p class="p__3">I gasped in relief when I saw the Two of Water, and the 5 of Fire (imagined all the method at the top of this post) likewise provides familiar footing. However this deck truly is its own thing, and it can't be effectively understood in the context of conventional Tarot.</p>

<p class="p__4">One intriguing thing this deck does has to do with the Court Cards. The Dreams of Gaia Tarot has fourteen cards per fit, among which are a King and Queen, but it notably lacks Knights and Pages. Each Page has been replaced by a card number 11, which is called after a specific polarity.</p>
<br>
<p class="p__5">This is an intriguing choice, and I'll wonder to see how it manifests in readings. I like the idea of having cards to represent these polarities, and for the most part they make good sense with their respective matches (although the gender one feels a little bit forced). It's interesting to see cards that call explicit attention to the requirement to stabilize specific elemental energies, but I wouldn't have the ability to say more about the inclusion of these cards till I 'd had more experience reading with this deck.</p>
