Is globalization good for fair traders (J=Jamie V=Victoria)
J: Hi my name is Jamie
V: And my name is Victoria and we're fair traders.
J: we're here to tell you that globalization is a good thing for us (as traders) and to start of our speech we are going to give an example of why globalization is good and how it can (sometimes) save lives.
V: So John is a fair trader like us he Isn't poor but he Isn't rich and he owns a stall in France where he sells Pearls for a reasonable price but one day John runs out of pearls and he doesn't have enough money to buy them because France sells them for a lot of money!
J:John is now in a tricky situation for if he doesn't buy the pearls his business fails and he and his family become poor and die but he can't do that because if he does buy them he'll have to raise his prices which means losing over 87% of his customers which well make his family poor and probably die but John doesn't like taking risks so what does he?
V: With that information in Johns mind John comes up with the idea to buy and ship pearls to France from another country for a cheap price and so John phones up a pearl business called Pears Pearls and buys and ships them to France for $10 each batch where in France you have to buy them for $25 a batch.
J: Now that John has these pearls he sells them for $20 a batch which for John is a good thing for him because for each batch he sells he gains a $10 profit.
