По полученному письму, можно узнать только IP адрес почтового сервера с которого оно отправлено.
Если человек находится в Америке, а для отправки письма воспользовался сервисом Яндекс.Почта, то пробив его электронный адрес вы сможете узнать только IP адрес Яндекса:

Реальный IP адрес компьютера с которого заходили в почту будет совсем другой и информация о нем конечно же сохраняется на почтовом сервере.
Однако вам его просто так никто не сообщит, если конечно вы не сотрудник спецслужб.
Пробить IP адрес электронной почты, если это интересно, можно на многих сайтах, например здесь: http://ipaddress.com/
Только к реальному IP адресу компьютера, которым воспользовался человек отправивший вам письмо, это не имеет никакого отношения.
