How to keep bored at bay during long hours of the night time security guard at an underground facility

The times are hard. In the new gig economy is one that I'm having a hard time to navigate as i used to before. I used to do extremely well before the pandemic hit and now, as well as my main job as dental assistant I have to accept a night-time position as security guard at the nearby machine manufacturing plant. It is mostly automated. The workers are on call during the day and I'm a member of the night-time crew. I have an emergency number to call in the event of an accident or when machinery stops functioning. After that, I call engineers or the outside line to get more engineers. I do not really do anything. You see, they're making no money in this regard. Thus, night guards are really a glorified switchboard attendant.

It's something I love. It's peaceful. I'm an extremely spooky sleeper. I often wake up due to too much gas release in the night. I've spent the last two weeks perfecting a dance that I observed on Tik Tok. It's easy, but it's hard for me to duplicate the dance. The dance was invented by a young girl from Tik Tok. I'm too old to understand it.

I've been trying various car-fixing videos recently. Although I don't know how to apply them to my car immediately I love watching others have their cars appear to be invincible. The same is true for DIY videos - they're often informative and simple to view. Another issue was that it came up. I realized that my internet wouldn't be working any time soon. So I couldn’t do anything useful or watch videos. I was able to download Youtube videos to my phone. So, now, even if internet is slow I can stream diy videos from my phone. It doesn't matter whether you're watching the video on your phone, regardless of whether you stream it from an internet site or online, or if you download a video from home and then watch it off your phone when you don't have internet access or wifi. The same applies to DVR to watch online videos.

My pure delight in watching new episodes and movies directly to my laptop is a testimony to the power of television. My laptop is much more comfortable than my desktop, and has superior speakers. I signed up for HULU and Netflix. Both allow you to download their apps and then mark the film for downloading. After a matter of hours depending on how long the program is and the quality settings that you have selected, the movie will be downloaded onto your device and you will be able watch anytime, even without internet. Even though it is only 15 minutes in length, I can still watch on the train as I commute to work.

There are many interesting or educational materials that I can download at home and take to work. This makes my life much easier. YouTube's webinars that cover different ways of self-improvement are great. However I find it difficult to follow along with the concepts that they cover in a one hour video. It's easy to see how. You'll see why.


Sometimes, I drive my son to work. My wife's night shift is too late, and it's hard for me to remain at home with my child. So I take him along and place him in front of the computer screen and he sleeps within a matter of minutes. When he awakes I offer him my laptop as well as some of the music videos that I have just downloaded. He's content and I'm also happy to do my thing with my mobile.
