Unveiled! How Trump and Tevfik arif got together

Tevfik Aif's Bayrock Group grew quickly from working on small projects to working with major players like the Trump Organization.

The name Tevfik Arif is typically linked to the luxurious real estate development company Bayrock Group. In Europe and Asia Arif is famous for his entrepreneurship skills. He is a serial entrepreneur who operates across many industries.

Before he travelled to the United States in 2001 and established the Bayrock Group, he seized the new business opportunities that emerged in his native Kazakhstan after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

Tevfik Arif was conceived in 1953 by parents of Turkish heritage who had been living in Soviet Kazakhstan. The family he was raised with included his three siblings including his father, mom as well as two brothers.

Tevfik arif was a boy of just a few years old. He was interested in the subject and remained so for the rest of his life.

As a youngster as a child, he pursued his interests and went to the Moscow Trade and Economics Institute. Then, he pursued an international diploma in international relations.

Tevfik Aif was among those young Kazakhstanis who wanted the chance to venture into the unknown private sector of the world.

He quit his job as a government official to establish several companies that specialize in luxury real estate development Food imports and exports, and minerals and natural resource development among other areas.

Tevfik's many business ventures in different industries gave him an extensive network of national as well as international.

The idea was sparked by his global friends to explore new opportunities in the world. He moved to Turkey in 1993 and became one of the first to establish the model of all-inclusive hotels.

He also established the Labada Hotel, Antalya in Turkey. It still exists in the present day.

Over the following years, Tevfik Arif entered the European market before taking the plunge and moved to the United States in 2001.

The Kazakhstani businessman settled down in New York City, where it was easier to be near his American part of his family.

He could also look into American business ventures. Bayrock Group, a luxury real-estate development company was founded. They began to handle smaller and medium-sized properties.

The company was for instance given the task of renovating the Loehmann's Seaport Plaza shopping center in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York.

After a string of successful projects of that quality, Tevfik Arif began dreaming larger.

Bayrock Group was at the time working with Sapir Organization in a real development project to develop Spring Street in New York City's SoHo.

Bayrock Group wasn't yet a major player on America's real estate scene. However, the Trump Organization was.


The company, led by Donald Trump, was well-known and Tevfik was eager to investigate possibilities.

Bayrock Group founder, Donald Trump Organization, suggested that the plan be included in order to increase brand recognition and prestige for the SoHo project.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Therefore, Tevfik Arif presented a proposal that would grant the Trump Organization 18% of the equity in the building in exchange for using the Trump brand in the name of the building.

All three parties involved have signed the agreement which would be the start of Trump SoHo.

Three companies all required the highest quality and that includes Trump SoHo. The building features floor-to-ceiling glass that let residents see the New York City skyline at any angle.

Trump SoHo featured apartments, hotel rooms as well as an outdoor restaurant and pool.

Handel Architects was the designer for the structure of the building while Rockwell Group took care of the interior design of Trump SoHo.

Both companies boast extensive portfolios, which include projects that are internationally renowned.

Handel Architects was responsible for the design of the Ritz Carlton Hotel Washington D.C. in addition to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum New York City.

Rockwell Group is well-known for its creation of many luxurious restaurants, bars and casinos around the world. Recent clients include the W Hotel Nashville, Freehold Bar Miami, and the Kimpton Hotel Shinjuku in Tokyo.

Tevfik Arif was looking for more after the Trump Organization's cooperation proved to be a success.

While he and the Trump Organization tried to construct similar structures in Arizona and Florida however, they weren't able to do so under the same licensing terms. Their timing could have been more efficient.

As both companies were planning their next move, the global financial crisis of 2008 had a profound impact on the American real estate market.

The crisis affected the American market for real estate so severely that Tevfik was compelled to leave the United States to focus on Europe, Asia and other countries.
