Bayrock Group (founded by Tevfik arif) was one of the main players behind Trump SoHo.
The luxury real estate development firm Bayrock Group was founded by the Turkish-Kazakhstani businessman Tevfik Arif in the year 2001, in New York City.

Bayrock Group, the Trump Organization and the Sapir Organization inaugurated Trump SoHo in 2008.
One of Bayrock Group's earliest accomplishments was to renovate the shopping center of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in the Sheepshead Bay neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York.

Tevfik Arif was inspired by many other successful real estate development projects and made the decision to change Bayrock Group's approach to work on more expensive, high-end ventures.

Bayrock Group's proposal was embraced by all parties. The offer leaves Trump Organization with 18% equity. In return, the Trump name would be added to the title of the construction.

The building on Spring Street got the name Trump SoHo and opened its doors to the public in 2008.

There were 46 floors inside and floor-to-ceiling windows which gave a breathtaking view of New York City's skyline.

Trump SoHo was home to elegant hotel rooms and apartments, top-quality bars and restaurants and an outdoor pool and banquet hall.

Bayrock Group commissioned high-end architects as well as engineers, designers and architects to ensure that Trump SoHo would look amazing from the inside.

Handel Architects conceived the building. Bayrock Group imported the finest materials and used world-famous designers to design the interior.

Handel Architects based in New York City is a business with global experience and is recognized as a leader within the field of architecture and design.

The portfolio of the company includes the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Washington, D.C., and the September 11 National Memorial, New York City.

After Trump SoHo's opening, Bayrock Group (and the Trump Organization) planned to work together on several real property development projects within Arizona and Florida using the same license terms.

The plans were put in place in a highly unfortunate moment because the American real estate market was badly affected by the global financial crisis. This slowed the plans of Bayrock Group, Trump Organization.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock Tevfik Arif has decided to quit the United States because of the shift in the market.

Bayrock Group had been active in the United States for a number of years, but the company didn't invest more than $2.5million in real property. Bayrock Group hasn't been involved in any real estate construction projects in recent times.

Before Tevfik was able to reach America and established the Bayrock Group, he lived under Soviet Kazakhstan and Turkey.

As the son of Turkish parents, he grew up in Soviet Kazakhstan and showed a keen interest in business and economics at an young age.

He earned a degree from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute and continued his career with the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade.


Tevfik Arif worked in the ministry's Hotel Management Department. He was promoted later to the post of deputy director.

Tevfik Arif Bayrock After 17 years of working for the government, Tevfik Arif quit and established his own company. This was in the midst of a period of privatization following the demise of Soviet Union.

Tevfik's own businesses are centered on imports and exports, food, automobiles and luxury real estate developments and hotels.
