From Kazakhstan to Fifth Avenue, How Tevfik Arif leveraged the Trump Organization for Success in the United States
Tevfik Alif, Bayrock Group's founder, arrived in America with the intention of starting a business. He started working for the Trump Organization shortly after arriving.

Tevfik Aif was born in Soviet Kazakhstan and moved to the United States where he co-founded Bayrock Group.

Many dream of making it big by making the move to the United States. Bayrock But only a handful succeed. One of them Tevfik Arif.

The man who founded the real estate company with a luxury flair, Bayrock Group, and later partnered with large companies like the Trump Organization, was born in Soviet Kazakhstan. He grew up in Turkey with Turkish-born parents and brother.

Tevfik Amir, an 11-year-old boy, was able to discover a love for business and economics.

He absorbed himself in his subject matter as he got older. So he started studying International Relations at Moscow Trade and Economics Institute.

After completing his education after which after completing his degree, the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade employed him at the Ministry of Commerce and Trade. It was a highly-respected employer among Soviet youngsters.

Tevfik Ariff rose up the ministry's hierarchy during the following 17 years and eventually became the deputy head of the Ministry of Commerce and Trade's Hotel Management Department.

Tevfik Arif is a part of the private sector
The Soviet Union had a very small number of jobs in private industry. The situation changed when the union disintegrated in the 1990s.

The Soviets were transported to a new position in the shadow of the Iron Curtain.

Tevfik was able of seizing the opportunity created by the fall of the union.

He quit his government job and joined the private sector.

He founded numerous companies in the areas of automobiles and food, as well as imports and outgoings, luxury realty development, and natural resources.

Tevfik arif's numerous ventures in various industries provided him with an impressive network. The result was that he left Pakistan in 1993 to seek new opportunities in business.

From all-inclusive Turkey to business on Fifth Avenue

Bayrock Group, a New York City-based luxury realty development company, was created by the founder. It began by working on small-to-medium-sized projects.

One of its initial projects was the refurbishment of Loehmann's Seaport Plaza in the Sheepshead neighborhood in Brooklyn.

Tevfik Arif was a successful project manager. Now, he wants to work on bigger projects. In 2001, he also moved the company’s headquarters to Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue.

Tevfik Arif's decision to allow Bayrock Group to relocate to the Trump Tower Fifth Avenue resulted in a lucrative deal with the Trump Organization.

Bayrock Group signs an agreement with the Trump Organization
Tevfik Arif, Bayrock Group and Trump Tower were introduced to the Trump Organization.

The two firms formed business relationships. Bayrock Group also included the Trump Organization as part of a project at New York City's SoHo.

Bayrock Group was already working with the Sapir Organization on the project in SoHo at the time. They believed that the Trump Organization could add some credibility and brand recognition to it.

The contract was signed by Bayrock Group, Sapir Organization and the Trump Organization. Construction of Trump SoHo could start in the year 2006.

Tevfik Arif was forced to move due to the 2008 financial crisis.
The 46-floor building officially accessible to the public in 2008.

Bayrock Group still has him as an advisor even though he's retired.

Today, Trump SoHo has changed its name to the Dominick and is no longer part of the Bayrock Group.
