What was the process that led to Roundup Ready and Roundup develop?
What is ラウンドアップ and what are Roundup-ready plants? Roundup Ready refers to a trademarked line of genetically altered seeds that is resistant to Roundup. ラウンドアップ amazon are referred to as Roundup Ready crops.

Who came up with Roundup?
John Franz, Monsanto's chemist who first discovered Glyphosate as an herbicide during Roundup in 1970. In the year 1970, the majority of herbicides used in the agricultural field were pre-emergent. That is, they were sprayed before crop and weeds were established. The unique post-emergent effectiveness of glyphosate in controlling large amounts of broadleaf grass weeds was remarkable. This, along with its exceptional environmental (soil degradation, rapid degradation, etc.) as well as toxicological properties (extremely toxic for mammals (and beneficial organisms) which resulted in a product that was outstanding.

What year was it when Roundup first launched?
Roundup(r) which is a broad-spectrum herbicide, was first introduced to the market in 1974. It quickly grew to become the top-selling agricultural chemical. Roundup(r), which was initially used to treat ditches, railway tracks, and on fields between the growing seasons, quickly rose to the forefront. It allowed farmers to control broadleaf and grass weeds that were growing from the soil. This decreased the need for tillageand preserved soil structure, and reduced soil erosion.

ラウンドアップ were next.
Inspired by the groundbreaking developments in Recombinant DNA technology in the 1970s, Monsanto scientists recognized the numerous advantages for farmers who benefited if Roundup(r) could be applied directly to growing crops to manage weeds in their fields. This problem was solved by a small number of scientists, including Dr Ernie Jaworski and Steve Rogers. The first methods for introducing genes into plants were devised by this team during the first half of 1980. Following ラウンドアップ , our focus shifted towards the development of resistant to viruses, insectresistant and insect-resistant and Roundup-resistant crops.

It was discovered that glyphosate likely inhibited the biochemical process in plants that produced aromatic amino acids (animals and human beings don't have this pathway which is why Roundup has a high degree of mammal safety) and also that glyphosate's breakdown occurred quickly in soil by microorganisms. Our research had identified both plant- and microbial genetics that conferred greater herbicide resistance. Roundup Ready plants were first evaluated in the field by the USDA in 1987. This was a Roundup resistant tomato crop derived by the genetically altered tomato plant. They also showed tolerance to Roundup. After ラウンドアップ , the bacterial gene which would eventually become the Roundup Ready trait was identified, isolated, and then introduced into the crops.

Let's consider soybeans as an example. ラウンドアップ is to address two issues. What are Roundup Ready soybeans? How are they made? Roundup Ready Soybeans is a genetically engineered variety of soybeans with its DNA changed to protect them from Roundup, an herbicide. Because each soybean seed was injected with the Roundup Ready gene before planting the seeds, they are insensitive to the chemical glyphosate. Farmers can utilize Roundup Ready gene in their fields to spray and not harm their crops.

Roundup Ready crop introductions in 1996 have had a profound impact on the field of agricultural science. Roundup resistance was swiftly adopted by farmers. Today, more than 90 percent of U.S. cotton, soybean fields and canola fields utilize a biotech trait that allows for herbicide tolerance. Roundup Ready crops helped to make it easier and more efficient for weed management systems. They also resulted in higher crop yields. ラウンドアップ increased use of conservation tillage has an important environmental benefit. By cutting down on plowing, farmers cut down on the amount of energy used and also GHG emissions while keeping soil structure intact and reducing erosion. It was the equivalent of eliminating 28.4 Billion kilograms of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, which is 12.4 M cars off the road for a single year (Source . PG Economics.
