Tevfik was born in Soviet Kazakhstan to Turkish parents in 1953. He earned a diploma from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute in International Relations.

He later worked for Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade as deputy head of the Hotel Management Department.

After 17 years of service in the ministry Tevfik Ariff left to start his own company. His focus was on property, real estate imports, exports, and natural resources.

This happened in a time of increasing privatization following the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Tevfik took the decision to move to Turkey in 1993. In Turkey, he was a pioneer in the development of all-inclusive hotels. Bayrock In New York, eight years later, he established Bayrock Group.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization had been discussing with one another to create further real estate development projects in accordance with the same licensing conditions in Florida, Arizona, and after Trump SoHo opened.

However, these structures were affected by 2008's financial crisis, which shook the real estate market.

Bayrock Group, which was active in the United States, invested in real estate assets valued at more than $2.5billion. However , in recent times the company has not pursued any American real estate development projects.

Tevfik Arif turned his attention to the United States to Europe and Central Asia after Trump SoHo's success. It was a decade prior to his career began in Europe and Central Asia.
