Many Americans associate the name Tevfik Arif with the luxury realty development company Bayrock Group. However, in Europe and Asia Arif is recognized as a serial entrepreneur who works in multiple industries.

Bayrock Group was founded by the founder in 2001 after he moved to the United States.

Tevfik Arif was born to parents of Turkish descent in Soviet Kazakhstan in 1953. His family consisted of his dad, mom and three brothers.

Therefore, Tevfik Arif presented a proposal that would grant the Trump Organization 18% of the equity in the building, in exchange for the Trump brand as the name of the building.

All three parties were involved in the agreement that began the process of Trump SoHo.

The first brick of the building was laid on Spring Street, 2006, and the building's 46 stories officially opened just two years after.

Tevfik is always hungry
All three companies wanted the highest quality, including Trump SoHo. This is why the building is fitted with floors-to-ceiling windows, which allow residents to take in the New York City Skyline from any angle.

Trump SoHo included apartments, hotel rooms and an open-air swimming pool. The hotel also had bars and restaurants spa facilities, bars, and banquet halls and event venues.

Handel Architects was the designer of the building's structure, while Rockwell Group took care of the interior design of Trump SoHo.

Both companies have vast portfolios of projects that are world-class.

Handel Architects, for example is the firm that created the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Washington D.C., and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum New York City.

Rockwell Group is well-known for the creation of numerous elegant bars, restaurants and casinos across the world. Recently, it has collaborated with the W Hotel in Nashville, Miami's Freehold Bar and the Kimpton Shinjuku Hotel in Tokyo.

The partnership with the Trump Organization turned out to be a success, which made Tevfik Arif looking for more.

While he and the Trump Organization tried to construct similar buildings in Arizona and Florida but they were not permitted to do it with the same license terms. Their timing could have been better.

The global financial crisis of 2008 caused a shake in the American realty market as the firms mapped out their next steps.

The crisis transformed the American real estate market to such an degree that it caused Tevfik Arif to quit the country and focus on Europe and Asia.

Today, Tevfik Arif has largely resigned from Bayrock Group, but he remains a valued advisor to the business.
