How would you characterize a person who has high self-esteem?
Can they interact with others comfortably and feel optimistic about self-worth and position in life, etc.
A person with high self-esteem accepts themselves for who they are. They understand their weaknesses and celebrate their strengths. These types of people can still be positive even when they fail or appear to fail. Individuals with high self-esteem form and maintain strong relationships with others who value and respect them and their opinions.
Some researchers believe that people with high self-esteem are prone to being healthier. This is because people who feel good about themselves are more likely to eat healthy foods, develop lifetime fitness activities, exercise on consistent basis and avoid risky behaviors.

How would you characterize a person who has low self-esteem?
Social isolation, pessimistic outlook about life and self worth, feelings of worthlessness as a member of society, etc.
A person with low-self esteem often has a misguided or inappropriate view of themselves. They do not respect themselves and judge their actions and appearance harshly. Sometimes the worry too much about what others think of them. They may act one way but inside they feel insecure. Their emotional health is not in balance. When they fail they react negatively thinking they are not good enough or not able.
Studies show that teens with low self-esteem are more likely to engage in risky behaviors like substance abuse; they are more likely to become pregnant teenagers; they are more likely to suffer from disorders like cutting or anorexia.

Where does a person's self-esteem come from?

A person's self-esteem is constantly changing depending on many things: what others say to this person, how others feel about this person, the person's accomplishments, where the person is in their life educationally, financially, socially, vocationally, etc., how is the person doing in achieving his/her goals?

As you reflect on the concepts above consider your own self-esteem level. In your notebook, make a column of your strengths and weaknesses. Can you come up with equal amounts of each?Write a note in this area. It's really easy to share with others. Click here ...
