After gathering the materials and verifying them, the petals of carnation flower (Dianthus caryophyllus) were dried in a convection oven and pulverized using mortar and pestle. After drying and pulverizing the Dianthus Caryophyllus petals, the 150 g pulverized petals of Carnation flower (Dianthus caryophyllus) will be transferred to a beaker and will mix in a 300 mL of 45% Ethanol solution. The extraction of mixture will be filtered out to get the mixture and will be transfer in a 250 mL clear glass bottle. The same process will be done to the other two mixtures that have 300 mL of 65% Ethanol solution and 300 mL of 100% Ethanol solution.Then the three mixture will be brought to DOST-Food and Nutrition Research Institute in Taguig City to undergo Kirby-Bauer Test. After the test is done, we will identify which among the three mixtures has the strong capacity against S. aureus
In order to make the sanitizer. We will measure 83.3 mL of ethanol using the cylinder, cover it then set aside. Measure 20 mL of sterile distilled water or boiled cold water using a cylinder. We will pour 4 mL of glycerol into the beaker and 1 g of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, these two will add viscosity and will not make the sanitizer evaporate easily. Then finally, we will mix the tested effective mixture to the beaker and transfer it to another sterile 250 mL clear glass bottle. Store the solution for 24 hours to make sure that the microbes in the bottles will be destroyed.
