The Electra Complex for dad girls is a common occurrence among men and women. The theory behind it is based on Greek mythology. According to it, a woman's desire for the love and devotion of her father is motivated by her primal id. This drive leads girls to seek out their fathers for sex and to desire the male gaze as much as possible. The problem is that women don't always realize their primal ids until it's too late.

Although this theory was initially proposed by Carl Jung in 1913, it was rejected by Sigmund Freud. He believed that girls were also subject to the Oedipus complex, so he did not accept Jung's theory. The two theories were based on a similar set of psychological processes. In both cases, girls develop hostile feelings toward their fathers and become obsessed with their mothers. This is a cyclical pattern.

If a man is obsessed with his daughter's looks, he may have an Oedipus or Electra complex. In Freudian theory, the Oedipus complex describes a child's sexual desire for their father's opposite sex parent and his rivalry with the parent of the same sex. But the Electra complex is a non-Freudian concept and is characterized by a girl's love for her father and resentment and hostility towards her mother.
