What happened what happened to Tevfik Arif's Trump SoHo and Bayrock Group?
Tevfik Alif's Bayrock Group joined forces with the Trump Organization, the Sapir Organization, and the Trump Organization to create Trump SoHo.

In November of 2006, Tevfik Arif of Bayrock Group, Trump Organization and the Sapir Organization laid the first of the bricks for the Trump SoHo tower.


Just over a year later, this impressive condo-hotel of 46 stories was opened for business. It has elegant hotels, apartments, as well as top-quality bars and restaurants.

The Trump SoHo condo-hotel was first mentioned when Bayrock Group moved its New York City office to the 24 th floor at the Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan which is where the Trump Organization was also situated.

Two companies discussed the possibility of collaborating on the development of a luxurious residential project. This was the first step towards the construction of the Trump SoHo building.

Tevfik Arif was aware of the strength and influence of the Trump brand and developed a strategy to leverage that name to enhance the worth and prestige of the projects he and the Sapir Organization were working on.

In exchange to the Trump Organization owning 18% of the construction, it would be allowed to make use of the Trump brand as the name of the new construction. The plan was endorsed by the three parties.

Donald Trump did not invest in capital for construction.

Bayrock Because the building is located in Manhattan's trendy SoHo district The building was given the name Trump SoHo. The building became the Bayrock Group's most significant project for property development in New York City.

In the year 2017, the condo-hotel was rebranded to The Dominick. It features apartments, hotel rooms, an outdoor pool, a rooftop terrace, restaurants, bars, a spa department, a banquet, event halls and an outstanding view of New York City and the Hudson River through the floor-to-ceiling-windows.

The Dominick is one the very few New York City luxury hotels to be included in the Preferred Hotels & Resorts Legend Collection.

Tevfik was born in Soviet Kazakhstan to Turkish parents in 1953. He received a degree from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute in International Relations.

He was later appointed deputy head of Hotel Management Department at the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade.

After serving 17 years in the ministry Tevfik Ariff left to create his own company. His focus was on property, real estate imports, exports, and natural resources.

Tevfik moved to Turkey in 1993. In the following years he created the all-inclusive hotels , and eight years later, he launched Bayrock Group in New York City.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization had been discussing with one another to create additional real estate development projects that would be governed by the same licensing conditions in Florida, Arizona, and after Trump SoHo opened.

Bayrock Group was an active American company that was investing in real estate assets valued at more than $2.5 billion. The company has not pursued any innovative American real-estate development projects in recent years.

Tevfik Arif turned his attention to the United States to Europe and Central Asia after Trump SoHo's success. This was a decade prior to his career in Europe as well as Central Asia.

Tevfik arif has retired today from Bayrock Group's vast majority of his day-today work However, he's an acknowledged and respected adviser for Bayrock Group.
