Monte Cristo returned to his palace on the island of Monte Cristo where he is waiting
Haydée.

'Daughter,' he said to her, 'tomorrow you will be free and take your place in the world. I give you back your wealth and the name of your father.

Haydée faded and with a voice full of tears she asked:

'So, my lord, are you leaving me?'

'Haydée! Haydée! You are young, you are beautiful; forget my name and be happy.

'That’s good,' said Haydée, 'with a tearing voice, your orders will be carried out. You are the master, I am your slave, you have the right to see nothing.

The count shivers when he hears Haydée speak. His heart beats faster. His eyes meet those of the girl and cannot bear the brilliance.
'What do you mean, Haydée? Would you be happy not to leave me.

'I am young,' she replies gently, 'I love the life you have given me, and I will regret dying.'

'That means that if I leave you, Haydée...

'I shall die, sir, yes!

"But you love me?"

The count feels his chest widening and his heart expanding; he opens his arms, Haydée throws himself there with a cry.

– Oh! yes, I love you! she said, I love you as we love her father, her brother, her husband! I love you as we love life, for you are for me the most beautiful, the best and the greatest of human beings!

– So let’s go together, Haydée, and finally be happy. This word from you makes me forget years of misfortune. Thanks to you, I can finally be happy.

Hatred disappeared from Edmond Dantès' heart and gave way to love and tenderness. Hand in hand, Haydée and Monte-Cristo leave the marvelous cave and head towards the boat that will take them away from all suffering and make them know absolute happiness.

Notes on Villefort:

This version of the book does not explain what happened in Villefort because it is very complicated, but here is the simple version:
We know that Benedetto became Viscount Andrea Cavalcanti. Under this name he takes the daughter of Danglars as his fiancée (this girl is the half-sister of Benedetto/Andrea, they share a mother), but Caderousse threatens to reveal his true identity (as a person not rich, not who is his father) if he does not share his money.
Andrea kills Caderousse, but Dantes had already forced Caderousse to write a letter that admits the true identity of Benedetto/Andrea.
Andrea is arrested for the murder of Caderousse and Villefort will judge him. Bertuccio visits Andrea/Benedetto in prison and explains to her who his father is and how Villefort tried to kill him.
During the trial, Andrea/Benedetto reveals his identity and Vilefort leaves in shame.
When his wife learns this story, she kills herself with poison. She also kills her son (the only legitimate son of Villefort). The death of this young man is Dantes' only regret.
All this happened at the same time as his revenge against Danglars
