1. Subject, categories and duties of higher school
didactics
Didactics, a part of pedagogy, deals with the theory of
instruction and study. Didactics is derived from the Greek words –
“didaktikos” – person who teaches and “didasko” – person who
learns. This term was firstly used by V.Ratke. Didactics was firstly developed by Jan
Amos Komensky (XVII century), famous Czech pedagogue as a
scientific knowledge system. Classical pedagogues of Europe in
XVIII-XIX centuries - J.J.Russo (France), I.H.Pestalozzi
(Switzerland), R.Ouen, J.Locke (England), A.Disterveg (Germany),
Russian pedagogues K.D.Ushinski, L.N.Tolstoy (XIX century),
A.V.Lunacharski, S.T.Shatski (XX century) as well as
V.A.Sukhomlinski(XX century), famous Ukrainian pedagogue and
others played a special role in development of didactics as a branch
of science. Development of didactic thought in Azerbaijan goes back to
the ancient periods. Philosophers of the renaissance period (Ibn Sina,
Biruni, Bahmanyar, N.Ganjavi, N.Tusi and so on) (XI-XIII
centuries), writers and philosophers – enlighteners of XIX century of
Azerbaijan (A.Bakikhanov, M.F. Akhundzade, H.B.Zardabi,
M.T.Sidgi, J.Mammadguluzade and so on), N.Narimanov,
U.Hajibayli, F.B.Kocharli, R.B. Afandiyev in further periods as well
as the first professional pedagogues professor A.Seyidov,
academician M.Mehdizade, professor M.Muradkhanov and others
contributed to development of the didactic thought.
