Avanos Medical, FDA and Avanos Medical, FDA and the FDA have issued a Class 1 Recall for approximately 629 units of CORTRAK*2's Ental Access System. Avanos Medical feeding tube Avanos Medical This feeding tube device has been linked to multiple deaths and injuries.
The devices for recall were made available on April 1st, 2016 to January 1, 2022. The devices are utilized by healthcare professionals to place feeding tubes into stomachs of patients or the intestines.
Avanos Medical feeding tube Incorrect placement of the nasogastric or Nasoenteric tubes has been responsible for the deaths of 23 and injuries to 60 since 2015.
Cortrak 2 eternal access system The recall serves to update the label of the device, in order to remind users to check that the tube has been correctly placed prior to feeding.
According to FDA, "Adverse events include pneumothorax, respiratory failure perforation (a hole or puncture within the lung wall, esophagus or the bowel) as well as pneumonia, lung infection and the pleural effusion ("excess fluid that is accumulating between the lungs, and the chest cavity),"
