The Anfield Talk - Conor McGregor and Geoff Shreeves Discuss Liverpool
This week on The Anfield Talk, Geoff Shreeves sits down with Jamie Carragher and Conor McGregor to discuss all things Liverpool. We also chat to Sky Sports legend Conor Daly. Read on to find out what they had to say! Listed below are some of their most memorable moments. So what can you expect from them? What do they hope to get out of this episode? Who will they end up as?

Conor

Before the biggest fight of his career, Conor McGregor had one last big party in Liverpool, England. In 2017, he was the lightweight champion of the UFC and a few days away from agreeing to fight Floyd Mayweather. After the victory over Eddie Alvarez, he was in party mode and he arrived in a fleet of cars with a small crew. Conor and his crew had been enjoying a three-day Grand National party in Liverpool, and they were not alone, as he had a crew of friends with him.

The UFC star revealed he supported Manchester United and Liverpool in his early days. But his family is a Liverpool fan. Although he has been spotted wearing Manchester United shirts, he said he has entertained the thought of buying a team shirt. It is worth mentioning that Conor's father spent his early years in Liverpool. His mother, however, was sent to live with relatives in Dublin. As a result, McGregor grew up as a Manchester United fan.

Although he hasn't fought in the UFC in almost a year, McGregor has expressed his desire to buy a football club at some point. The Irishman has shown interest in Celtic and Manchester United, but hasn't revealed a specific destination. Despite the uncertainty, he is confident that he can make a difference at Man Utd. In recent weeks, McGregor has stepped up his training and is preparing for his next fight.

Jamie

In the latest episode of The Anfield Talk with Jamie Anfield, the Reds' manager discussed his plans for the transfer window. He explained that while Liverpool have never quite reached the level of the FSG in terms of numbers, they have a model that fans respect. It also means that they have been successful for the past four to five years. But can they keep up the momentum this season? Read on to find out more.

The former Liverpool defender spoke candidly about the Champions League semi-final defeat to Real Madrid. He credited the goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as one of the greatest in Liverpool's history. The Reds' front three failed to create any clear chances. In particular, Mohamed Salah has been unlucky in the second half of the season. Courtois saved his shot but it was not enough to win the game for Liverpool.

The reds have signed Darwin Nunez. The Argentine striker joined from Benfica, and will cost PS64m. If add-ons are achieved, the deal could be worth PS85m. Nunez will join a crowded attack at Anfield that already includes Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Luis Diaz, Robert Firmino and Adam Lallana. Those are the players who Jamie Anfield is aiming to sign this summer.

Ben

This week's episode of The Anfield Talk with Ben sees Harry Wilson sit down with Liverpool legend Geoff Shreeves to discuss the club's transfer plans. It also features a scathing assessment of the club's summer signing, Ben Woodburn. Despite being just 18 years old, Woodburn is already a highly impressive prospect. But how does Ben compare to his fellow Liverpool defenders?

The Liverpool team jetted off to Asia for their pre-season tour and left Ben Davies behind, even though the loan was only for six months. He was considered an emergency centre-back if a center-back injury crisis hit Liverpool in January 2021. But Davies injured himself and was then deemed surplus to requirements when the defensive unit returned to health. Ben was then loaned out to Sheffield United, where he made 22 appearances in the league.
