Minecraft is among the most popular games across different platforms, and it will not use non-fungible tokens or NFTs. Mojang's developer won't accept or allow Minecraft NFTs, it said in a blog post published on Wednesday.
"To ensure that Minecraft players enjoy a safe and inclusive experience, blockchain technologies are not allowed to be integrated into our Minecraft server and client applications, nor may be used to create NFTs that are associated with any game content, including worlds, skins, personal items, or other mods," Mojang said.
The developer claimed that there have been companies who created NFTs that are related to Minecraft, but it feels these tokens aren't inclusive and "create a scenario of the haves and the not-so-haves." Mojang also expressed concerns about instances of fraud and artificially high prices for NFTs.
The videogame industry hasn't yet fully accepted NFTs. However, there are some success stories which didn't last because of the current cryptocurrency winter. Servers Experts predict that NFTs will be the norm in the gaming industry when the right method is identified.
