The Professional Gambler
I want to start out by telling you who this article is about or, more specifically, what it's not about. The Professional Gambler does not make a lot of noise or attract attention to himself. He or she is not the one who is making extravagant high-roller bets. The real professional is a calm, reserved committed player. Professional gamblers understand that gambling is a business. Profitable business.

The professional gambler doesn't "go out for a night (or day) of betting." The professional would not assume that they'd be playing all night. A professional usually makes a decision within 30 minutes if they want to keep playing or stop. Professional gamblers go to bet with the sole intention of winning, not to entertain themselves. It's work. It's a job. It is true that there is no way to know how long it will take to either be successful enough (or lose enough) However, the expert will be aware when one of those limits has been attained and will have the determination to know when it is and act accordingly.

It is possible that you have played with a professional at times. You probably wouldn't remember that. There is nothing to really call attention to the professional athlete, besides the fact that he is ahead only to quit! The player doesn't just continue playing because he or is "out to enjoy a night of betting." If professional gamblers are looking to be entertained go to a show or a movie. Gambling isn't just an "activity" like many people view it. It is possible to gamble all night long in Vegas or Atlantic City. This is how recreational gamblers make money. They find it very easy to rationalize...something like this; "Well I played all night and it only cost me $200. This isn't too bad for the night with free drinks." This is known as the tourist mentality. You might hear stories of how someone was in Vegas and won millions. It can happen. It is possible. However, you will likely be hearing the story which says:
"I was up three or four hundred, but I lost everything back." You will never hear a professional make such a statement. If one's goal is to make a profit, then they will recognize that 3 to 4 hundred is an excellent profit, and is likely to be gone.

Professional gamblers are guerrilla fighters. They are not there for a marathon playing spree. The pro is playing to be successful. Losing or winning doesn't usually take much time, definitely not all day or night. It is possible that they can get an winning streak, and believe me, the pros will be able to recognize it and ride through to the finish. In the majority of cases, however, the pro's play will only last long enough to make profits or lose the most. Casinos will never know the amount of money pro players win. The casino can't afford to lose the professional.

The expert is far too smart to believe that there exists any system that can always beat casinos, no regardless of the game they're playing. Instead professional gamblers use proven strategies and betting methods to enhance his or her odds of winning. Only a few decisions will be made at the time of play. Most of the pro's decisions are taken before they even begin the game. Pros will stick to their strategies and betting patterns. There is no way to witness a pro ever "chase his money." It's not just about "how much did you lose or win today?" It's more like "How do I stand for this month or next year?"
