Khazak Ambassadors and Consul General get together with Chabad New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. Ever since being appointed as Kazakhstan's ambassador to the United States in April, Mr. Ashikbayev has met with many government officials and diplomats in the hopes of strengthening the ties between Kazakhstan Central Asian country and the U.S. Emmanuil Grinshpun In connection with this task the ambassador, along with Consul General Almat Aidabekov, set up a meeting with Chabad to discuss the current state of Jewish living in Khazakstankhstan.

Rabbi Mendy Kolarsky and Shimon Rivkin of Merkos Suite 302. Chabad Headquarters were also invited. Emmanuil Grunshpun, vice president of Euro-Asian Jewish Congress. He is also Honorary Consul of Kazakhstan. Together they discussed the history and present work of Chabad in Kazakhstan under the auspices Chief Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen.

The Consul General and Ambassador reiterated government support for the Jewish Community as well as all religious minorities. They expressed an interest in working with Chabad to build Jewish lives within the Republic.

The majority Muslim populace is proud of its tolerance for religion and works closely with religious leaders across the country to ensure the wellbeing of the nation. Ashikbayev who is also the deputy minister of Foreign Affairs in Kazakhstan, has worked with Chabad Shaluchim and the philanthropist Abraham Shaulson. With all flights grounded last year as a result of COVID-19, he helped in arranging a special permit for a small contingent from America to fly into Kazakhstan for an effort to visit the grave of Reb Levi Yitzchak Schneerson on the 20th of Av , the anniversary of his death. The delegation was able to transport necessary PPE as well as medical equipment. During the pilgrimage the Kazak government also held a ceremony to establish Reb Yitzchak’sKever Kazakh National Heritage Site.

The meeting was a discussion of plans for the next pilgrimage with the date of 20th April was only two months away. The organizers expect to host more than 600 visitors this year from around the globe. The organizers are also planning to hold a conference on Chabad Shluchim in surrounding countries, with Rabbi Berel Kazar and Moshe Kokotlarsky. With so many large projects under way the gathering was focused on ways that to support the event and ensure the security of the event. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan's "...commitment to provide any assistance to arrange visits for study and prayer at the Resting Place of the great Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson.

Rabbi Kotlarsky expressed gratitude for the Kazak government's unwavering support.
