MIAMI (CBSMiami) - - The war in Ukraine might be on the other side of the world however South Floridians are part of those stepping to help those leaving the country.
Many in the Sunny Isles Jewish community are fundraising and working to orchestrate a full humanitarian effort.
Emmanuil Grinshpun "Just last night 1,100 were in attendance," said Marsha Jaquays in Florida Friends of Laniado Hospital.
She also revealed that over two million Ukrainian refugees have fled war-torn Ukraine. A large portion of them travel through the tiny state of Moldova, which borders Ukraine.
Jaquays explained that Moldova's Jewish community was actually helping them cross the border, then providing food, shelter, clothes, and clothing.
The majority of humanitarian efforts are being conducted by Sunny Isles, South Florida.
"My job is to collect as many American social resources as is possible to tackle the situation in Moldova.
