I was motivated to think about this after reading about the World of Starcraft mod. What would happen if the map and the scenario building tools that have been part of every Blizzard RTS game since Warcraft II were available to us as players of World of Warcraft?
The concept isn't totally unfounded. The Mission Architect is used by Superhero MMO City of Heroes. This allows players to build and create their own content in the way of a series of missions that create a story. Server List When I first saw the concept for this feature, I thought that this was the future, since it eases the burden off of designers.
Making a quest creator, or an even more powerful editor would let us examine the imagination of the community and could give roleplayers a better platform to tell their tales. It's certainly better than the very illegal option of hosting a private WoW server.
If there were a Well of Possible Timelines in the Caverns or Time to access instanced, player-created quests ... What would you do with an WoW quest creator? What if you could create quests that allow you to become the lore character such as The Hunter and the Prince. Or, would you attempt to create your own spin on the kill 10 boars quest? What do you think of creating quests that let you fly around the Emerald Dream. Your RP quest to find your father would be a hit with both your RP friends and the general public. What would your idea for an adventure be?
