Adverse events reported included respiratory failure, pneumothorax (collapsed lung) and perforation (a hole in the lung's wall, esophagus, or bowel) as well as pneumonia (a lung infection), and an effusion of the pleura (excess fluid that has accumulated in the space between the lungs and chest cavity).
Avanos Medical issued on March 21, 2022, a correction notice to customers using these devices between January 20,21 and January 20,22. The following instructions were contained in the notice:
