Everything you Need to Know about the HUGE Caves and Cliffs Update

Caves & Cliffs Part 1 Release Date

We finally got an official release date for the most recent update in a surprising surprise. It will be available in Java and Bedrock on the 8th of June.



It is logical to release one week before E3 to let people take it in and enjoy it without those game announcements. You can still play it right now.





Pre-release launch

The last snapshot was deleted to make room for the update. The reason for this was an unexpected problem. We finally received a preview of Caves and Cliffs.



Sliced Lime, Minecraft's tech lead announced the news on Twitter. This was the first pre-release and vital part of development leading up to today's release.





An Update on the Mobs

In the latest episode of Caves & Cliffs Special, the team on Minecraft discuss the Glow Squid, Axolotl and the Goat.



This focus shows a lot of enthusiasm for Caves & Cliffs but it also shows how secure the team is about the latest update





Caves and Cliffs Beta

Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs Beta allows players to try out new features. It also, with Snapshots aids players to cope with the long wait.

Release date for Update 1.17

While the release date has been fixed for the first part of the series on June 8, we don't know when the second is due to release. We were told that Caves and Cliffs part 1 will be released in the summer, and part 2 will arrive during the time of the holidays.



In the time between the announcement of the Nether Update and its release, Minecraft players were ready to wait until the next major update to the game and we finally have a release timeframe to see when content is available.

Caves & Cliffs Update content

Minecraft is set to be even more stunning with more innovative content for caves or mountains.



There will be new biomes including lush caves full of life and dripstone caves filled with stalagmites and stalactites.



Variation in caves is the name of the game. The Caves & Cliffs Update will keep the classic look but will offer something for all.



There are numerous new mobs to be found too. The terrifying Warden is about to come into the most dark and dangerous caves.



There will be more friendly mobs to accompany this massive mob! Axolotls and goats will be added into the water, while the Overworld will be home to them on the new mountain ranges.

A new type of mining is coming with the Caves & Cliffs Update that sees players carefully excavate rare and fragile artifacts cleaning debris instead of hitting things with the pickaxe.





New ore

Keep an eye out for the brand new copper ore and stunning Amethyst geodes that can be mined to create new crafting materials. The Caves & Cliffs Update will bring you a lot of new crafting blocks and recipes, including sensors for sculk that detect movement, telescopes, lightning rods, leaf platforms, and numerous other.





Lush Caves

A new biome! A lush Caves promise to be alive, bringing some interest and colour to the caves, as well as the dangers of tunnelling!



A new tree, Azalea is now available that indicates the location of the Lush Cave while it is visible from the surface.



Spore blossoms are a new block, a roof-hanging flower that releases particles similar to those found in the Nether. Nether.



Here you will also find cute axolotls in the water pools.





Redstone additions

The new sculk block will detect the movement of the block and send out an Redstone signal. Kind of like the motion sensor.

With brushes and a hut you can sand away portions of blocks to discover hidden artifacts from the past.
