The Minecraft Forum is a forum run by the community for Minecraft. It was created by a community member, citricsquid, on June 16, 2009. Since then, it has been operated by the community with Mojang Studios not being involved in the day-to-day operation (although certain Mojang Studios employees do have accounts).
In September 2010, Redstone Wire Ltd. was established to manage the site and on November 15 2010 the site was acquired by Curse. Curse was the owner and operator of the site until it was acquired by MagicFind in June 2019. The forum software used is called Cobalt and was developed in-house by Curse.
Servers
The forum is an information central hub for the Minecraft community with game modifications and servers, custom maps and resource packs that are all shared. The registration process is free and anyone with or without a Minecraft account is permitted to use the site. Forum administration is managed by PuyoDead and citricsquid. The moderating team is comprised of more than 100[4] volunteers.
The site front page includes news videos interviews, contests, and other articles on Minecraft, Mojang Studios and the Minecraft community in general. The front-page news is curated by Sacheverell with videos from the MCSpotlights YouTube Channel and the Curse YouTube channel.
On May 20, 2019, citricsquid announced that the forums would be only accessible on June 16, 2019. 5 On May 20 2019, citricsquid announced that the forums would become read-only on June 16 2019. [6]
