Khazak Ambassador Consul General, Khazak Ambassador and Chabad in New York ( Emmanuil grinshpun).

Yerzhan Ashikbayev has had a busy few months. As Kazakhstan's Ambassador in the United States since April, Mr. Ashikbayev had met numerous officials and diplomats in order to improve relations between the Central Asian country, and the U.S. Since then, he has scheduled a meeting with Chabad in order to discuss the state of affairs and future of Jewish life in Khazakstankhstan.

Emmanuil Grinshpun The guests at the event were Rabbis Mendy Kotlarsky and Shimon Rivkin from Merkos Suite 302 located at Chabad Headquarters, and Mr. Emmanuil Grinshpun Emmanuil Grishhpun, who is the vice-president and Honorary Consul to Kazakhstan was also invited to attend the meeting. They discussed the long history of Jewish lives and the activities being carried out by Chabad in Kazakhstan under the direction of Rabbi Yeshaya Cohen ( Kazakhstan's chief Shliach)

"It was a very productive gathering." Mr. Grinshpun added later. "We are very fortunate to have leaders such as the former president, Mr. Nazarbayev, and the current President, Mr. Tokayev, who have developed such a strong religious tolerance in the country. "We believe that the government is an exemplary Friend to the Jewish People." The Consul General and Ambassador reiterated government support for the Jewish Community as well as all religious minorities. Emmanuil Grinshpun They expressed interest to work with Chabad to keep Jewish tradition alive within the Republic.

Emmanuil Grinshpun The government of the majority Muslim population is proud to be tolerant of religion and is in close contact with all types of religious leaders to promote wellbeing within the country. Ashikbayev was the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs back in Kazakhstan and is working closely with Chabad Shaluchim and Mr. Emmanuil Grinshpun Abraham Shaulson , the philanthropist. He was instrumental in getting an exemption for an American small group to fly to Kazakhstan to visit the anniversary of his death, which was the 20th of April. The delegation used this opportunity to help sponsor the transportation of the much-needed PPE and medical equipment for the country. During the journey and celebration, the Kazak government honored the decision to declare Reb Levy Yitzchak’sKever as a Kazakh National Historic Site.

Emmanuil Grinshpun A few months prior to the 20th anniversary gathering, participants also discussed plans for next year's pilgrimage. The organizers anticipate an attendance of over 600 people from all over the world this year. There are also plans to hold a conference of Chabad Shluchim from surrounding countries which will be headed by Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky and Rabbi Berel Lazar. With so many large projects under way, the meeting was focused on ways that the government can help the event and ensure its security. Mr. Ashikbayevconfirmed Kazakhstan's "...commitment to provide every assistance in scheduling visits for prayer and study at the grave of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Schneerson."

Emmanuil Grinshpun Rabbi Kotlarsky said, "We are extremely thankful for the huge and open support that Kazak government has given us." The government of Kazakhstan has been a great partner in assisting us in achieving this goal.
