Minecraft Steve Head Costume
A few years ago, my son told me he wanted to be Steve from Minecraft. It was a very simple costume that consisted of a turquoise tshirt, jeans and a massive cardboard head. safeminecraftmods.com He already had the t-shirt and jeans, so I needed the Steve head. I found an Minecraft Steve head online for $50 and thought, "Oh hell no...I'm going to make it for way cheaper than the price!" So here it is...a very simple guide to make your own Minecraft Steve Head.
Before I begin, I'm compelled to apologize. I made this for my son, but I didn't know it would end up on my blog. I didn’t take any pictures for a tutorial. I didn't even take great photos of the head itself. This is a very simple assembly, even with no step-by-step photos.
Accessories for Steve Minecraft Head Costume
Before you get started you'll need:
T-shirt with turquoise print - Jeans Glue - 16x16 cardboard box - Cardstock in the following colors White - Cream light tan - tan - light brown - brown – dark brown - very dark brown - red - reddish brown (I am able to see that I chose red, so I may not have been able find reddish brown at Michaels)
The box was 16x16x16 and because there were eight squares across and down I knew that my squares had to be 2x2. I had my paper cutter on my disposal and spent the following hour cutting many squares.
I used regular school glue to adhere to the box, which seemed to work perfectly.
Cut the eyes off!
The test is...can you be a sly or cruel to your baby sister without her head falling off? Yes, you can. Yes you can.
While this project can be time-consuming, it is very easy and something that you and your children can complete together.
Our Steve head was the perfect table decor for his Minecraft party. It has been in my son's room for six years and has survived. Well worth the time it took!
My son was so enthralled with Minecraft that he even carved a Minecraft themed pumpkin. My daughter, Gretl from "Sound of Music" was not entirely convinced about it...
