Avanos Medical and FDA issued a Class 1 recall of 629 units CORTRAK*2 enteral access system, which is a tube for feeding device that has been linked to numerous incidents of injury and death.

Nasogastric tubes or Nasoenteric tubes that were placed incorrectly have resulted in 23 deaths and 60 injury reports since the year 2015.

According to FDA, "Adverse events include respiratory failure, pneumothorax perforation (a hole or puncture in the lung wall, esophagus or bowel) or pneumonia, lung infection and pleural effusion ("excess fluid that is accumulating between the lungs and chest cavity),"
