The Morning After: Sony Wants PS5 Software Beta Testers

This is your chance to test out new PlayStation 5 features before everyone else. Sony has launched the beta program for PS5 software to test what's supposedly a "major upgrade" later in the year. Perhaps we'll be able increase the capacity of the SSD? In the coming weeks, Sony will release more details about the upcoming features.

Only PS5 owners who reside in the US and Canada are eligible to sign for the beta program. You will receive an email with instructions on how to download the beta firmware if you're selected.

Microsoft has been running the Xbox Insider Program since years. Even Sony has employed beta testers to test patches for the PS4. However, this seems bigger. Sony may require all the testers it can get: PS5 is in its early stages, and it may be difficult to locate the right version.

Windows 11 early hands-on

Windows 10 meets macOS. Devindra Hardawar has spent several hours playing with the now-infamous Windows 11 leak, says that it feels similar to macOS. This could be due to the virtues of this first version being a clean and even a Kondo-styled version of Windows 10. The new Taskbar is centered and functions as it did since Windows 95. It houses the Start menu button active applications, as well as your choice of shortcuts. It's now all icons. Read on for Devindra's full impressions.

Microsoft appoints Satya Nadella as its CEO

After Bill Gates, the second person to fill both of these roles is you.

Microsoft has appointed Satya Nadella, CEO, as its chair. This marks the first time that an individual has held both posts since Bill Gates' departure as chief executive in 2000. It's a vote of confidence for a CEO who has helped the company on nearly every level: Microsoft is the world's second-highest-valued company, just behind Apple with a market worth of $1.9 trillion. Nadella has also overseen numerous successful acquisitions, including Minecraft, LinkedIn, GitHub and, more recently, gaming giant ZeniMax. Wanna Talk About Minecraft Continue reading.

All future Disney+ original series will be released on a Wednesday

Good because I can't wait for the upcoming 'Loki.' It wasn't an unnatural timing. Disney+ will now release new episodes on Wednesdays. The previous series dropped the latest episodes on Fridays, but it might be that Disney is trying to recreate the watercooler atmosphere, ensuring more people discuss its latest shows prior to when the weekend arrives. You'll still have something to watch in the event that you're looking to watch an original film that will launch on Disney+. Continue reading.

'Metroid Dread' is a dark rebirth for Samus Aran

Something to play while we wait for 'Metroid Prime 4.' We talk to the creative force behind the 15-years-in-the-making Metroid series, Yoshio Sakamoto, who has guided it since the early days. The producer explains the background of Metroid Dread, and how it is a part of the larger story of Samus. Continue reading.

Nintendo Switch will launch the free-to-play Pokemon MOBA in July

To play 'Pokemon Unleap' on their mobile devices, they will have to wait until September.

It's almost time for Pokemon Unite to be released. The "free-to-start" MOBA will be released on the Switch in July, and on mobile devices in September. The hook is still the cross-platform game. You'll eventually be able to compete against your rivals, regardless of what device you use.

Unite is not free. You can earn more in-game rewards by completing seasonal battle passes (which cost real money), and buy Aeon gems that can aid in bringing more Pokemon into battle or gain items for your pocket monsters and your trainer. Continue reading.
