With the backing of billions from Microsoft, Minecraft's momentum is showing no signs of slowing. The game is now compatible with VR and lets players fine-tune their worlds with Add-Ons, the movie has an expected release date (although it is in 2019) and is soon to have its very own official novel. Mojang has confirmed that the upcoming book is titled Minecraft: The Island, is being written by none other than Max Brooks, the scribe behind the zombie novel World War Z.

It's not clear when the book will be published or if it will be linked to the movie but it appears that it will be the first in a series of. Publishing house Del Rey, a science fiction spin-off from Penguin Random House, is in charge of the entire process. The company already commented that it was "fortunate" to have someone with Max's extraordinary talent and passion onboard for the launch.
While parents are likely to be on the hook for more but some will be happy that the Minecraft brand is expanding its reach to education. Minecraft: Education Edition will be available to teachers beginning the 1st of November. The release of the upcoming novels will only enhance children's enjoyment of reading.
