Population - Population typically refers to the number of people in a single area, whether it be a city or town, region, country, continent, or the world. Governments typically quantify the size of the resident population.
Environment - The surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates.

Inherit - Receive from a family member who has died.
Reign - A period of rule
Inquisition - A catholic organization that held trials for people accused of false beliefs.
Section 2.
Administration - A term used to describe the group of people who work with and for a leader.
Divine right of kinds - A theory that holds that God decides who shall be king.
Section 3.
Czar - A title given to the Russian monarch.
Heir - A person who receives something from someone who has died.
Section 4.
Civil war - A war among different parts of the same group or country.
Treason - A betrayal of one's country.

Scientific method - A step-by-step way of performing experiments.
Natural laws - The patterns that control the behavior of the universe.
Enlightenment - The belief that science and natural laws of behavior would bring individuals and society to a better or more enlightened state.
Natural rights - The rights to life, liberty and property.
Section 2.
Colony - A territory that is ruled by another country and is usually very far from the ruling country.
Constitution - A set of rules explaining the structure and powers of the government.
Democracy - A political system in which people freely elect government leaders.
Section 3.
Napoleonic Code - A set of laws that protected individual liberty, the righs to work, property rights, and the right to one's own opinions.
Blockade - A ban against any trade.
Exiled - Banned from his country.
Section 4.
Textiles - Woven or knitted cloth used to make clothing, blankets and other goods.
Factories - A large building/buildings in which many workers worked at the same time.
Interchangeable parts - Parts of a product that are identical in size, shape and quality.
