It's been about two months since we first heard about Minecraft Earth, the augmented reality version of Mojang's game that makes the real world playscape full of your blocky creations. The company had promised that an early version of the game would be available this summer. Now, with a new trailer for the game, the company says it will be available on iOS in the coming two weeks. Android will follow "soon afterward."
After experiencing live gameplay at WWDC last month, the announcement of iOS-first isn't a surprise. The trailer gives a lot more information about the game. However, it's worth looking at the Apple demo to check the game's features and if you have any queries.
To be one of the first players with access, you'll need to sign up for the game right here (you'll require a smartphone running at minimum iOS 10 or Android 7 to be able to participate, as per the FAQ). Access to the game is limited as they build load on the game's servers but you'll need to be active in it -- if you don't play for a period of seven days, then another player will be given your slot. You'll require a Microsoft or Xbox Live account to register after which once you've signed up , there's nothing else to do except wait and prepare to build.
