Microsoft Extends Access to Minecraft: Education Edition and Resources to Help With Remote Learning

Many teachers are opting for remote learning to keep their students engaged as COVID-19-related school closures all around the world. To ensure that students and teachers stay connected to the classroom, Minecraft: Education Edition is now available until June 2020 for all educators and learners who have a valid Office 365 Education account. Please complete this form to verify your account and request access to Minecraft.



We have also compiled an exclusive Minecraft remote learning toolkit, that includes more than 50 lessons, STEM curriculum and projects-based learning activities that educators can utilize Minecraft: Education Edition with their students, whether they are at home, at school, or in a different remote learning environment.



Features like classroom multiplayer let students to work together on projects within their Minecraft worlds, while building plans, planning, and even chatting while they collaborate. Multiplayer Mode can be accessed by downloading this guide. When they are ready to document their work and submit their assignments Students can use tools like the Camera and Book & Quill to capture photographs and write about their work and then export their portfolios from the game as PDF.

First, go to this link to determine if your school account qualifies. - If you have an active O365 EDU account, you can fill out this form to request access to Minecraft: Education Edition through June 2020. Download Minecraft: Education Edition for Windows, Mac or iPad.

We recently introduced a new category of educational worlds for Minecraft players everywhere on the Minecraft Marketplace to support families during school closings. The new Education Collection includes worlds you can play with your friends and family with work from Everbloom, Jigarbov and Lifeboat, Razzleberries and The World Foundry, Blockworks, and Imagiverse. All of these worlds are free to download through June 30, 2020. Anyone who has Minecraft for Bedrock can find these worlds by opening Minecraft and then visiting the in-game store.
