I feel like social media should be a tool for learning and growth in schools because kids nowadays, including myself, use social media pretty much throughout the day. From a survey done, about 90 percent of teens ages 13-17 have used social media and about 75 percent have at least one active social media account. This tells us that kids use social media a lot and that if we could a little education to it, it could be easier for us kids to learn or to do activities more. Kids usually despise school, probably because of the work or the homework school gives us. Adding the things we learn onto social media, could probably change it around.

I believe that social media is capable of benefiting both students and teachers. There are hundreds of students and teachers that use social media and it is a way to communicate with people, receive news, and share your thoughts. My school has made several accounts on social media and it is a good way to share information. I have seen several different posts of school activities and sports on social media that I wouldn't have ever known about. Social media helps update people about what is going on around them and they can learn new things from these posts. However, I do not believe that all types of social media is beneficial for students. Even though I do believe that Instagram, Facebook, and Snapchat are good ways to communicate with the school, I also believe that apps like TikTok are not beneficial for us. Apps like TikTok are often a cause of distractions for students and sucks them in for hours and hours. It will consume large amounts of time from people and is mainly used as a source of entertainment. Some people do say that TikTok is a good way to enhance creativity from students, but I believe that there are better ways to do this than to use TikTok which can have students lose hours trying to create a single video. In my opinion, schools should implement apps like Instagram to communicate news and information with students from the school. These apps are the least distracting to students and will help schools increase their education for the better.
