Minecraft is used by the UN as planning tool for third world communities

United Nations Habitat has partnered with Minecraft in an effort to improve the condition of neighbourhoods in third world countries.
This three-year partnership is part a project called "Block by Block" which aims to transform 300 public spaces in 2016.

A customized version of Minecraft packed with virtual representations of the communities of the past will be provided to students, who will then utilize the game's tools to plan and design their own communities.
"By gathering input from local populations this game can inform urban planners and decision makers on the types of improvements that are most beneficial and appealing to the overall community," said UN Habitat.
The pilot project has already launched in Kibera, Nairobi.
4J Studios announced via Twitter that the Xbox 360 version Minecraft has sold more than four million copies.
"Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has crossed 4 million in sales! "Incredible number thank you to everyone!" reads the tweet.
