Minecraft is among the most popular games across multiple platforms, but it doesn't have any non-fungible tokens, or NFTs. Mojang, the developer, won't support or allow Minecraft NFTs, it stated in a blog post published on Wednesday.
"To ensure that Minecraft players have a secure and inclusive experience, blockchain technology is not permitted to be integrated within our Minecraft client or server applications, nor can they be utilized to create NFTs associated with any game content, including skins, worlds and other items, or other mods," Mojang said.
The developer said there have been companies who created NFTs in connection with Minecraft however, it believes that these tokens aren't inclusive, and "create a scenario of the haves and the not-so-haves." Mojang also expressed concerns about fraud cases and artificially high prices for NFTs.
The video game industry is not yet fully embraced NFTs, even though there have been some successes, but they were not able to last due to the current crypto winter. Experts say NFTs will become the norm in gaming when someone can figure out the best method to implement them.
