Mojang Reassures Minecraft Fans about Microsoft Deal

Mojang reassures Minecraft fans about Microsoft deal

The boss of Minecraft-maker Mojang has reassured those who are worried about what's going to happen when Microsoft assumes control.

A $2.5bn (PS1.5bn) deal that will see Microsoft acquire Mojang was announced in mid-September.

However, Vu Bui Chief Operating Officer of Mojang, said there was no plan in the offing to change the game or how people can do with it.

The feedback from players will be crucial to improve the game, he said.

"Nothing's really going to change," stated Mr Bui. "We don't have any plans to change anything and obviously, I'm not able to discuss the situation in detail and I don’t know everything, but we're still in the same place, and the game's still there and business is as usual."

Mojang had always sought to keep the original spirit that helped to make the game so popular, he said.

"Maintaining the authentic culture is a real challenge," he said. It's a society that is respectful of the community and lets them do what they like playing the game.

"It is the goal to continue, as it always been, to keep doing this," he said to the BBC during an BBC interview at London's Olympia exhibition center in which he was delivering a keynote address at the Brand Licensing Europe trade fair.

Although Mr. Bui acknowledged the deal was still being worked out but he also said Mojang intends to continue to work closely with its vast community of players.

Many block-building fans have expressed concerns about what might happen when Microsoft takes complete control.

Minecraft creator Markus Persson, aka Notch, has written about his reasons for approaching Microsoft and explained that he was handing it over because it was becoming a burden for him to run.

"I cannot be accountable for something this big," he wrote soon after the details of the deal were revealed.

"It's not about the money," he added. "It's about my sanity."

Mr. Bui stated that there will definitely be some changes in the coming years however, these will be done with the input, comments and feedback of fans.

The current system, in which Minecraft developers share what they are working on for a long time before it is added to the game, is expected to continue.

"We don't hide our features," he said.

Mojang began to show off the new games they were developing, even though he wasn't aware of the specifics.

Mojang will allow players to test the early versions of a game and help its creators improve it Mr Bui said.

Similar approaches were used for Minecraft. Mojang wanted the similar process to be replicated because it was proven to benefit developers as they worked on their project.

It was not about trying to duplicate the success of Minecraft to create a new game that was as well-liked. It was more about trust in the overall strategy Mr Bui.

He stated, "We believe that model." "Regardless of their art form individuals should invest their time and energy into whatever they believe in, no matter what the outcome.

"That's a noble effort," he added.

Mojang also declared that it was wrong to try to control the Minecraft community or decide what can be done with the game.

He said that it was better to move out of the way.

"People are at their most creative when you let them do whatever they want to," said Mr Bui. While you need to give them some guidelines and guidelines, they are more likely to come with more innovative ideas than we can.
