The Avanos Medical Cortrak*2 Ental Access System was developed to aid trained healthcare professionals to insert medically-approved feeding tubes in patients' small intestines or stomachs. Since 2015, however 23 people have died from complications related to the feeding tube.

The adverse events noted were respiratory failure, pneumothorax, collapsed lung perforation (a hole in the esophagus's wall or lung) as well as pneumonia (a lung infection), pleural effusion, excess fluid between the lungs and chest cavity, and pneumothorax.
