The lungs fail, there is pneumothorax (collapsed lungs), perforation, (a hole in the esophagus or bowel wall) pneumonia, excess fluid that is accumulating between the lung and chest cavity (the chest cavity and the lung tissue) have all been among the traumas.
Avanos Medical described a plan for users to get updated labels to ensure proper placement of the nasogastric tubes and nasoenteric tubes prior to use.
The Avanos warning is the second warning that the FDA issued in 2022 concerning tube feeding through the stomach.
