The game has seen a lot of improvements since its initial release. Regular updates have made the game more enjoyable.



However, following the installation of the latest update to the game, many Old School RuneScape players have been reporting different kinds of problems with the game such as FPS drops, lagging, and crashing issues.



Old School RuneScape lagging and FPS drops issue



Many OSRS players have taken to social platforms to share (1 2 3, 4, 5 6, 7, 8, 9) that they are experiencing low FPS and crashing issues on mobile devices, making the game unplayable.



Here are some reports from people who have been affected:



I am lagging at 0.5 frames per sec when I do mlm but not when I run herb (though there are still some slowdowns). Sometimes it shuts down the application completely. I've never experienced this before the last update. Anyone else have the same experience? (Source)



Thankfully, Jagex support has acknowledged the issue, and has confirmed that they are currently looking into the issue.



There is a workaround however, that may help you get around this issue until developers come up with an answer. It's available below.



Solution to a problem that has been lingering for a long time



If you're experiencing a lot of lag when playing mobile in MLM/WC Guild Make sure you switch off the timers for respawns. Then, restart the app to get rid of the lag. I was experiencing this issue this morning until my clanmates informed me the fix. I hope this will help someone! (Source)



Old School RuneScape crashing issue



Some gamers complain about crashes on mobile devices and also FPS and delays. Those affected say that the game is crashing randomly and closes out.



Below are some of the reports from players who are unhappy:



Ever since they started implementing improvements to mobile it has been getting worse for me. It started with random crashes, and eventually the game closing down. Then, today the frame rates are so low that it's almost impossible to play, and this is just my attempt to afk mine. Nothing too intensive. (Source I have an iPhone 11).



I'm not sure what's happening, but I am experiencing random crashes when trying to teleport or enter the catacombs. I started to notice lags while cutting teaks. There was no tick manipulation or anything else. I've tried everything and played around with my wife and the cellular data, but don't know if it's my cell phone or the server. Hoping that someone else has an answer or is experiencing the same issues. (Source)



The support team has acknowledged the crash issue and is working on resolving it.



Furthermore, they've also said that the issue appears to be caused by overlays on screen and deactivating the overlays, such as the Mining or Woodcutting timers will aid those affected in reducing the impact.
