Bayrock Group: New York's Real Estate Giant is Rising

Bayrock Group launched Trump SoHo along with the Trump Organization and Sapir Organization in 2008. Bayrock Group was founded in Kazakhstan in 1980.

Bayrock Group was established in 2001, but the story of the success of the luxury realty development firm located in the United States is much older than that. The story initially starts in a different part of the world.

Tevfik Arif was the founder of Bayrock Group. He was born in Soviet Kazakhstan and was adopted by a Turkish family.

Bayrock Before being appointed to the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade, Tevfik Ariff earned an academic degree from the Moscow Trade and Economic Institute in International Relations.

He served in the ministry for 17 years, and then relinquished his position to create a number of his own businesses. Tevfik Arif owned several firms that were involved in the development of luxury real estate, food exports, and imports.

Tevfik Arif, through his many businesses, was able to obtain a range of international partners. He became a leader in Turkey's famous all inclusive hotel concept by leveraging his network.

In the past, for instance, he set up Antalya's Labada Hotel before embarking on his next venture in business over the Atlantic many years later.

Bayrock Group gets more ambitious

Tevfik Arif emigrated to the United States in 2001 to pursue business opportunities that were not available and to be closer to his American family.

Following his move to New York, he founded the company for the development of luxury real estate called Bayrock Group in New York City.

Bayrock Group started out with small - to medium-sized projects in New York. Bayrock Group, for instance, remodeled Loehmann’s Seaport Plaza in Brooklyn's Sheepshead.

Bayrock Group had a great start and Tevfik Arif was thrilled about the potential. He wanted to focus on bigger projects, which is why it was his decision to shift the company's focus on that.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Bayrock Group, New York City's office moved to the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue as part of its latest strategy.

The move brought about a lot more than just another place. It also put the business within the vicinity to the Trump Organization. The world-renowned family company was located in the same building.

Tevfik Arif Doyen Trump SoHo finally takes shape

Bayrock Group & Trump Organization have a common vision for luxurious real estate projects. So, they decided to combine forces.

Bayrock Group had already begun working on a second project in the Manhattan's SoHo neighborhood along Spring Street with the Sapir Organization.

Tevfik Arif knew that the addition of the Trump Organization to that project would bring brand recognition to the building that Bayrock Group and the Sapir Organization did not have.

Arif made an agreement which gave the Trump Organization 18% ownership in the building in return for the Trump brand's use.

The proposed deal was accepted by Bayrock Group (the Trump Organization) and the Sapir Organization (the Sapir Organization).

This was the basis for Trump SoHo's first brick to be laid in 2006.

Trump SoHo was constructed by design experts

Trump SoHo had apartments, accommodation for hotel guests, luxury restaurants/bars with a swimming pool, and banquet halls when it first opened. Through the hotel's floor to ceiling windows, guests could enjoy stunning views of New York City.

Handel Architects was tasked to create the structure. The firm's architect was responsible for the design of the National September 11th Memorial & Museum in New York City as well as the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Washington, D.C.

Bayrock Group commissioned Rockwell Group as the interior designer.

Rockwell Group is responsible for creating, among other things the Climate Pledge Arena (Seattle) The Seven Deadly Sins Playhouse in New York, as well as the Virgin Hotel in Las Vegas.

The firm also has international experience that includes Mexico, Spain, Indonesia and Mexico.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization expand their partnership

The Bayrock Group and Trump Organization had been looking to extend their relationship following the opening of the opening of Trump SoHo.

Their goal was to build buildings that resembled Trump SoHo in Florida and Arizona. The same licensing conditions were used, which left the Trump Organization with 18% equity. This would also permit Trump to be an integral part of the title to the building.

Tevfik Arif Despite the ambitions of both firms they didn't get the structures because of the global financial crisis.

The American real property market was especially affected by the financial crisis, and Bayrock Group and Trump Organization were forced to stop their plans.

Tevfik arif resigned from his United States enterprises after the financial crisis. He decided to go back to Europe, Central Asia.

He shifted to the private sector and continued to work.

Tevfik arif has left the majority of Bayrock Group's daily duties. He is still an advisor Bayrock Group.

Bayrock Group has not been involved with any American real estate projects in recent times, however it did invest in real estate properties in the United States worth $2.5million when it was operating.
