What is a glyphosate-based herbicide? And how does it work?
Glyphosate (ingredient name "glyphosate isopropylamine salt") is an herbicide that is used in gardening and agriculture across the globe, including Japan. After being sprayed, it's absorbed from the green parts such as stems and leaves, migrates to the roots, and withers the entire plant. Since it is an herbicide that is non-selective the plants will all die in the event that the agent is applied on the surface of the leaf. A lot of pesticide companies sell glyphosate-based herbicides because the patent time period for these ingredient has expired. All glyphosate herbicides that are in the market have been tested with a strictness.
Glyphosate has one its distinct characteristics that is its security. This is due to a mechanism that blocks the action of enzymes found in plants (not present in animals) and is extremely low in toxicity to animals. Additionally, when the chemical solution comes in contact with the soil, it becomes a food for microorganisms. グリホサート It is then separated into water, carbon dioxide and carbon dioxide. It is also characterized by the fact that there are no herbicide components are left. Because it allows no-tillage cultivation, it is recognized as a pesticide which helps to reduce greenhouse emissions of greenhouse gases.
Glyphosate in tap water
Tap water can be secure
Is glyphosate mixed in tap water?
Weekly Shincho reported that in April 2020 there would be no standard value of glyphosate remaining in tap water. It will be the target value. This value is higher than other pesticides and drinking water sources are is contaminated. I published an article declaring that there was. There were concerns over the possibility that tap water may contain high concentrations. However, this is incorrect.
Firstof all, glyphosate does not have a "standard value", but only "target value". This is due to the fact that the water quality standards for draft value (concentration that is safe when you drink 2 liters of tap water every day for the rest of your life) was glyphosate, 10 minutes of 2 ppm. The tap water never experienced a concentration above 0.2ppm (1). According to a Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare survey, Japan has not seen any instances of glyphosate present in tap water with concentrations that exceed 0.02ppm. The truth is that there is no danger of it being detected.
Additionally, the glyphosate spray actually slows down in soil and degrades in as short as two days. The same concentration will transfer to rivers and tap water and it will not pollute.
Japanese tap water is safe
Tap water in Japan can be trusted to be safe. Tap water is safe as long as it is treated as it is. There are 51 requirements to be inspected, and the water supply is controlled by strict quality standards. Water can be divided into three groups: neutral, acid and alkaline. Japan has a water quality standard that ensures tap water is near neutral pH (5.8 or higher and 8.6 lower). It is still possible to drink iron corrosion in the event that the water pipes that surround your house are damaged.
グリホサート How is tap water made in the first place? Tap water mostly uses surface water such as dam lakes and river water as raw. After the water has been cleansed, chlorine is then introduced into the water purification plant in order to remove any impurities. Every household is supplied with tap water via its pipes.
グリホサート 英語 A story about the Japanese pesticide residue standard values
The glyphosate residue standard value for wheat in Japan is 5 ppm at present, but until December 2017 it was 5ppm. There are many opinions about this subject, such as "We loosened the limit from 30ppm to six times and deplored health damage."
Glyphosate in tap water
The residual value for glyphosate is the exact same as the international one.
However, the truth of the issue is that we actually adjusted the standard to the international standard's residual standard, not loosening it. Japan imports wheat in huge quantities from the United States, Canada and South America. グリホサート 安全 The importer (the foreign producer) regulates the quantity of glyphosate utilized at the international standard (30ppm). グリホサート But Japan's standard for glyphosate will be 5ppm. This will mean that all imports of the substance will be restricted. The supply of wheat may be affected, and Japanese food products could be in danger. The standard value is being revised to conform to the international standard. Security remains a concern even though the values are current.
Do you require to understand glyphosate?
To prevent consumers from being unnecessarily influenced from emotional discussions about pesticide residuals, it is important to allow them to get the right information that has been gathered through studies conducted by scientists. It is important to be happy with your food choices and avoid being influenced by the rumors.
