This makes the work of an AI that much easier. The Facebook team believes that even though their AI fails at certain tasks, it will be useful. They claim that they believe they can make progress towards an AI that is useful , but without having to be able "to achieve every request."
It's still a challenge. One of the biggest hurdles is the ability to comprehend everyday language. The Facebook team imagines this request:

This fairly simple request requires a significant amount of understanding. The assistant needs to understand the concept of a "tower" and how to build one, be aware that "15 blocks high" is a measurement of the tower's height, and know what "15" is. They must also be aware of the term smiley and how to construct it, and what it means to put it on top.
But the opportunities for an AI to learn are immense. plugins If Facebook is able to get enough human assistance, the assistant could ask humans to help it learn.
And Facebook is setting itself the task of creating the AI to self-improve. One of the biggest critiques of AI systems is their inability to learn new tasks beyond what they've been taught and for which data has been collected and processed. However, researchers believe that the Minecraft environment is the perfect environment to develop this kind of learning.
This is an interesting piece that maps out a goal for Facebook. It's still early days. The team describes the work as a "call to arms."
