Minecraft And Screencastify Install

Students will be able login to Minecraft: Education Edition with their AISD email address. This information can be found in the User Profile menu of the AISD Portal. After logging in to an AISD email account, students will be asked to enter their student ID number and password in an AISD Portal popup window. This will be the case regardless of the device the student uses.



Below are some links to help install Minecraft Education Edition on your student device. Scroll down to premium content for premium people are using to find specific instructions. Before installing a personal computer at home, children should speak to their parents.

Instructions for Installing on Austin ISD Student Chromebooks



Austin ISD Chromebooks capable of running the Android version Minecraft: Education Edition will need to first access the Minecraft installation page in the Google Play Store. Chromebooks for students must find the Google Play icon at the lower right corner of the screen.



Only apps approved by the district can be downloaded from the Google Play store app. Click on the Minecraft Install button in Google Play.

Instructions for Installing on Non-Austin ISD Windows Computers



Click the purple Windows button to download Minecraft: Education Edition Windows Desktop Edition. The downloaded file needs to be opened and located. It should be found in an entirely new tab at the bottom of your browser, or in the Windows Downloads directory.



The Windows operating system will guide you through the installation process. Choose your language and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue to click Next until you are required to click the Install button. It is possible for the installation to take a while before you reach the Finish button. This will close the installation.



Directions For Installing On Macintosh Computers



Click the purple MAC button to download Minecraft Education Edition for Macintosh. You'll need to find the downloaded file, then open it. (It will be either open in a new tab at the bottom of the browser or within the Downloads folder.)



The Macintosh operating system will walk you through the installation process. Choose your language and agree to the End-User License Agreement. Continue clicking Next until you are asked to click the "Install" button. It is possible that the installation will take several minutes before you can see the Finish button. This will end the installation.



Instructions for installing on iPads



Students can access Minecraft on an Austin ISD student iPad once their teacher has installed Minecraft: Education Edition app on their AISD iPad. During school hours, find the app in the Creator Apps section of the iPad.



Download Minecraft onto your iPad from the iTunes Store. The application is available as a no-cost download. The button below will show you the app on the iTunes store.



Screencastify Screencastify Capture Extension Installation



One effective way to demonstrate learning is to record live demonstrations of that learning through video. Video screen capture is a great way to show an online activity to students or teachers to record the digital product with their recorded voice to describe it.



Screencastify is a Chrome extension that has been approved by Austin ISD. Students and staff can add the extension to their Chrome Web Store.



Instructions for Students Installing Screencastify



Austin Independent School District Chrome Web Store is available to students. From there, any app that is approved can be downloaded. This is the only way to install an Chrome app or Chrome extension on an Austin ISD Chromebook. Open the Chrome launcher on the Chromebook. Find and open the Chrome Web Store App. Click the Austin Independent School District link to access the library of approved apps. This page will help you locate Screencastify and install it.

Capture Your Video



All students are able to create videos up to 5 minutes long after the Screencastify extension has been installed. Make sure you practice your group presentation before you start recording. The video of your presentation should not exceed 2 minutes long. This video shows you what it looks like when you capture the video of your life.

Optional Edit Your Video



You are as imaginative as possible when creating your world or making your video. Some students may wish to make changes to the Screencastify video. Your free AISD account comes with a simple video editing tool. Screencastify's support site provides more details on editing video.
