We hope you're not too dependent on either of the Minecraft Java and Bedrock editions of one of the best building games available on PC as Microsoft and Mojang have confirmed that both will be shut down on June 7 - and be replaced by the Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition and Bedrock Edition, meaning you don't have to play them separately.
There is a chance that you are confused by the existence of two versions of Minecraft on PC that is the Java and Bedrock versions. PCGamesN has a handy guide to explain the difference between the two versions, but regardless - even if you bought one, you did not get access to the other. It's a bit odd.
Mojang and Microsoft are clearly in agreement with their announcement. Minecraft-server-list.fun have announced (thanks to Neowin) the Minecraft Java Edition and Bedrock Edition. This single-purchase edition of Minecraft on PC replaces the separate editions. It will go on sale June 7 and will be "the only and standard edition of the vanilla Minecraft on Windows PC."
Anyone who has either the Java or Bedrock editions of Minecraft will be upgraded to the combined edition. The upgrade is automatic, but it may take up to three days for all eligible players to experience the game.
Mojang confirms that "Java and Bedrock will remain separate games with their own distinctive features," with the only difference is that you don't have to buy them separately and can access both from the same Minecraft launcher. It's a good thing for everyone except for those who has recently purchased both separately. Regardless, it should make downloading Minecraft much simpler.
