Teenager Arrested Over Mass College Bomb Hoax

Following a massive bomb hoax that shut down hundreds of schools and colleges across the UK, the teen believed to be at the heart of a Minecraft gamers' feud was detained.



The 19-year-old was arrested by Hertfordshire police after more than 24,000 threats were sent to schools informing them of an impending bomb attack if cash wasn't handed over.



The emails appeared to be sent by VeltPvP, a gaming network. VeltPvP is which is a Minecraft player against-player server, is the same service that companies use to sell their products to gamers.



A teenager believed to be at the heart of the Minecraft gamers' squabble was arrested following a mass bomb hoax closed hundreds of schools across the UK. Hertfordshire police arrested the 19-year-old following 24,000 emails were sent out to schools warning about imminent attacks.



These emails were sent to disable VeltPvP and were designed to cause the domain's abuse to be suspended.



The National Crime Agency (NCA) has stated that there was no real threat to the emails received this week.

In a statement, they said"We understand teachers' and parents concerns, but we want to stress that there was no credible threat to the schools' emails.



"However we take the communications extremely seriously. Since this is a live investigation, we are unable to provide further information.'



Following the bomb hoax emails the school was surrounded by signs Cardinal Road School in Feltham



Those involved in the feud said that their adversaries had engaged in illegal activities in order to hinder one another's businesses.



When asked whether he regretted the effect the letters caused to schoolchildren who were forced to evacuate one of the hoaxers responded, "It is terrible, it's not the most pleasant thing."



The blame is being placed on VeltPvP the hoaxer claimed the network had enaged in a campaign of Direct Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks - which he claims were used to try and stop other competitors' Minecraft servers.



In the wake of the email hoax bomb threat, parents were asked to take their children home.



VeltPvP released a statement saying that they were being targeted and hounded by cybercriminals.



We're very sorry for anyone who had to deal with this, but remember that it's fake.'



The email was sent to more than 400 colleges and universities across the nation. minecraft events servers claimed that the bomb was already planted and would explode if money was not provided.



Cardinal Road School, Feltham, West London was one of the schools to receive the hoax email.



Police forces from London, Bristol, Liverpool and Bedfordshire were among those who investigated.



Parents at a few schools asked to be able to pick their children up in the wake of concerns about the emails.



While six schools across Hertfordshire were also affected: Abbots Hill in Hemel Hempstead, Valley School in Stevenage, The Sele School in Hertford, Duncombe School in Hertford, Stanborough School in Watford and St Albans High School.
