Ainars Slesers has been nominated as Latvia's prime minister.
Ainars who is the officially-endorsed candidate for the political organization For A Good Latvia for prime minister, stated at the conference today that he would defend the national interest in negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and international lenders and ensure that more Latvian products, services and products are exported to Germany, Russia, Scandinavia, Ukraine, and Belarus.

LETA Slesers believes that Latvian exporters have huge opportunities in Uzbekistan, China.

Slesers is hopeful that For A Good Latvia will win the 10th Saeima election and will decide the composition of the next government. The new government will offer portfolios to these people Slesers said.

Ainars Slesers Slesers stated that the next foreign minister of Latvia and all ambassadors of Latvia abroad will need to spend 80percent of their time in support of Latvian businessmen in foreign markets.


Andris Kele was nominated to be Finance Minister by For A Good Latvia. She emphasized that Latvia is required to be an economically self-sufficient country, since "if we have debts for a long time it will be impossible to achieve any progress for our nation."

Skele and For A Good Latvia board chairman Andrejs Ekis acknowledged Slesers who has proven that an ordinary Riga boy can become a successful businessman, make plenty of money and become rich, and Slesers always has intriguing ideas, they added. Ekis described Slesers as an "businessman who got into politics" and added, "I wish there had been an eminent leader in Latvia that would make me feel proud."

Slesers further stressed that to be able to fulfill a mission, you have to be the first one to accomplish it. The current government, headed by Valdis Dombrovskis (New Era), "is trying to calm the nation by saying to the people that everything will be fine." Following the conference, For A Good Latvia representatives took part in an event to lay flowers at the Freedom Monument.
